Sensei Michael Ormerod 01/01/2019
We are delighted to announce that Sensei Ormerod will be teaching the first class of the New Year again on 01/01/2019! It will be a highly enjoyable event, as he mixes the qualities of intensity and focus with a warm and encouraging presence that make him a pleasure to train with, and learn from. Last year’s class was well attended. Let’s see if we can do better this year. We look forward to seeing you there.
Upcoming gradings
It is that time again, when more committed aikidoka are ready to take a step further on their developmental path. We will be holding both a junior and senior grading, using the newly formulated ‘junior syllabus’ and the standardised TAE syllabus for the seniors. We are keen to see our members excel and demonstrate their proficiency in the upcoming tests.
It is strongly advised that students become familiar with the terminology as the syllabus will be asked for in Japanese. Please check the ‘members’ section for a terminology guide.

Extended 4hr Workshop
Following on from the previous ukemi focused session, we will be looking in depth at appropriate ukemi responses to threats and how to stay committed in an attack. We will delve into the partner practice of Ken tai Jo for the weapons work, and will look at atemi options within techniques and some jiyu waza for the empty handed section.
The cost of the 4hr class is £10; date and times are as follows:
