Traditional Aikido Europe is a group of European Aikido dojos with over 400 active aikido-ka (practitioners) from 16 dojos in 7 countries, sharing in the practice and study of Takemusu (Iwama style) Aikido, in the lineage of Morihiro Saito Sensei (9th dan) and O Sensei Morihei Ueshiba (the founder of Aikido).
Sensei Lewis Bernaldo de Quiros (6th dan) is the Chairman and Chief Technical Director of the organisation. Sensei de Quiros spent several years studying directly from Saito Sensei in Japan as uchi deshi (live-in student), and preserves Saito Sensei’s legacy by passing on his teachings to the next generation of Aikido students.
Traditional Aikido UK is a group of 4 dojos from the North, West and South of England, in the forms of Lancaster Aikido Club, Morecambe Aikido Club, Kou Ki Do Kan, and Wellsprings Aikido Club, respectively. They are directly affiliated with the TAE, adopting the practice and guidelines, in line with other dojos in the organisation. Each dojo is committed to promoting and encouraging the practice of Aikido in the United Kingdom.
TAUK are one of the leading Aikido organisations in the UK, holding regular seminars and ‘friendship’ workshops throughout the year, to strengthen and build upon the solid foundations they have already established, under the guidance of Sensei Lewis Bernaldo de Quiros.
