Welcome to Lancaster Aikido Club

Lancaster Aikido Club (formerly Lancaster Aikikwai) has been serving the Lancaster community since its foundation in 1976. The club has been overseen by Steve Nardone Sensei, 3rd Dan, ever since. The club is now thriving, and continues to provide a friendly, respectful environment for the study and practice of Aikido.

Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art which emphasises blending with an assailiant in order to neutralise their attack using a minimum amount of strength or force. Practiced by the Tokyo riot police, practioners systematically develop open handed and weapon techniques in an integrated, holistic manner. Aikido practice is non-aggressive and non-competitive. We are proud to maintain a warm and supportive training atmosphere, in which everyone helps each other to improve. You don't need any prior experience to train, nor do you need to be super-fit; just willing to learn.

For information about our instructors, training times, or information on just what Aikido is, see the rest of our site. Information on upcoming seminars can be found on the events page.
